Description
One of mineralogy’s most remarkable specimens: kyanite is famously anisotropic, displaying a hardness of 4.5–5 along the crystal axis and 6.5–7 across it — a physical property that has fascinated collectors and scientists for over a century. This black variety is rich in iron, lending it its deep, opaque coloration and distinctive metallic sheen.
The blade-like crystal habit is characteristic of kyanite, with natural striations running along the length of each crystal. The matrix presents a fan-like cluster of these blades, creating a striking sculptural form. All surfaces are natural, untreated.
